Parent/ Caregiver Contribution to the Group Operation:
We believe it really does benefit youth to have a village raising them and this philosophy is something we want to reflect in Life Learners. We keep our fees low because we are run by volunteer power!
At the end of workshops it is expected that adults help clean up the area which gains valuable skills in cooperation and contribution. We run Team Games, Little People Games and Knot Ninja's & Masters as end of the day workshops to keep the kids happy and busy while we do this.
Each Session we will ask you contribute in one of 2 ways:
Help with morning set up - before 10am.
Help with end of the day clean up at 2.45pm.
-
Volunteering to facilitate a workshop/activity:
As a facilitator to a workshop you are gifted a voucher to use on the website to book a free workshop in the future.
You don’t need to be a professional to run a workshop or activity!
Each week we make a timetable and label those activities that need a facilitator 'Volunteer Needed'.
We plan & provide everything, making being a facilitator super easy - if you have an idea or particular skillwe can probably build a workshop for it!
What is your role as facilitator?
- Help set up the activity - it will be ready to go.
- Show the kids what to do and/or make sure the activity runs on track.
- Ensure the equipment & the venue is looked after and packed away on time.
-
Older youth in the group can run a workshop or activity in the group.
This can be a fantastic opportunity for them as well to learn, develop and practice a whole range of skills.
For each workshop they run; they can also be allocated a gift voucher for use on a free workshop.
The group is also happy to provide a written reference for their CV or Te Kura Leaving to Learn program.
